The final project meeting took place in Graz, Austria in June 2010.  All partners came together in order to go through the inputs of the motivation guide. All contributions were discussed and common conclusions, a glossary and general issues were dealt with in small working groups. The remaining steps in all work packages were listed before the project is finished in the end of September 2010. After the completion of the English version of the motivation guide the document will be translated in the partners’ languages German, Bulgarian, Romanian, Hungarian, Lithuanian and French. All language versions will soon be available for download in the download area.

Through lectures, discussion forums and workshops teachers and
trainers working in the field of iliteracy were able to exchange experiences as well as to learn more about illiteracy in other European countries and to gather new working strategies and networks.

EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON MOTIVATION AND ENCOURAGING
Young adult learners,with a key focus on basic education and literacy

The Thuringian Association of Adult Education (TVV e.V.) on behalf of the MoLeYa Project Consortium organized the European Conference on Motivation and Encouraging of young functional illiterates. The meeting was held at the Fair Hotel in Jena, Germany.

Conference Programme and List of Participants
About 60 persons representing 34 organizations from 9 different European countries attended the conference and actively participated in the workshops and plenary discussions with the key note speakers and workshop leaders.

The participants used the opportunity to exchange experience and information on their organizations and their work scope. Further they exchange information and experiences about their work with illiterates and young functional illiterates.

The 5 workshops gave everyone the opportunity to get in touch with new/ innovative practices and methods concerning the motivation and attraction of young learners with low basic education and illiteracy.

Also the draft of the “Motivation Guide” had been presented to the participants.

The fifth meeting took place directly after the MoLeYa Conference (19th March 2010) in Jena, Germany.

The purpose of this rather short meeting was to evaluate the conference as well as to set up the final schedule towards the successful finalization of all project products as well as the project itself.
All partners had been satisfied with the conference and called the event a success.

Within the workshops and the key note speeches some topics had been tackled which will enrich the content of the motivation guide. Also the discussions with participants and experts had been fruitful for the project consortium.
The final meeting will take place in June 2010 in Graz, Austria.

The fourth meeting was held right before Christmas (16th to 19th December) in Bucharest, Romanian.

The main objective of the meeting in Bucharest was to discuss and overwork the 1st draft of our motivation guide. Crucial parts had been critically analyzed by the partners. Also the schedule for finishing the Motivation guide had been set up and E.N.T.E.R. presented the layout of the guide.

Another important topic of this meeting had been the final preparation of the MoLeYa conference which will be held in Jena (Germany), March 2010.  So the final agenda had been revealed and crucial duties and responsibilities for each partner had been discussed and distributed.

MoLeYa, Motivating and Encouraging Young Adults to Learn – Motivarea şi încurajarea adulţilor tineri pentru a învăţa (142115-LLP-1-2008-1-DE-GRUNDTVIG-GMP) este finanţat prin componenta Grundtvig a Programului de învăţare pe tot parcursul vieţii (Lifelong Learning Programme).
MoLeYa se adresează adulţilor tineri care au probleme de analfabetism funcţional.

Persoanele cu probleme de analfabetism funcţional sunt persoane care au urmat şcoala şi care fie au obţinut o diplomă corespunzătoare unui nivel de educaţie, fie au părăsit şcoala înainte de a obţine o diplomă, dar care, în ambele situaţii, nu deţin competenţe de bază suficiente.

MoLeYa intenţionează să creeze un “ghid motivaţional” care să includă recomandări şi strategii de implicare şi motivare a adulţilor tineri cărora le lipseşte educaţia de bază. Ghidul va cuprinde şi strategii de ajutorare a celor aflaţi deja în situaţii de învăţare.
Informaţiile necesare pentru elaborarea ghidului for fi obţinute de la cursanţi care au probleme de analfabetism, profesori şi formatori care activează în acest domeniu, experţi, persoane cheie în domeniu, personal din centre educaţionale dedicate analfabetismului funcţional, din ţările participante la proiect.

Impactul aşteptat de MoLeYa constă în creşterea gradului de informare şi conştientizare cu privire la motivele şi urmările comportamentului de evitare a învăţării, ca şi asupra problemelor motivaţionale specifice tinerilor cu probleme de analfabetism, cuprinşi în programe de formare.
Mai mult, prin proiect se urmăreşte formarea (sau extinderea) reţelelor formate din profesori, formatori, persoane cheie, tineri cu probleme de analfabetism funcţional, dar şi din reprezentanţi ai centrelor de sprijin social sau educaţional de la nivel regional şi european.

The third meeting was held in the end of August (25-27) in Lorient, France.

The main objective of the meeting in Lorient was to provide every
project partner an overview about the experiences and outputs of the already realized expert discussion rounds and narrative interviews with young adults. Based on the information collected by each partner an index of the main chapters of the motivation guide was created.

Another important assignment was to discuss potential approaches regarding the organisation of the European Conference in Jena in March 2010. The draft agenda had been critically analysed and the first proposals about workshop topics and keynote speakers were made.

26-27 March 2009, project meeting in Leicester, United Kingdom

Every partner presented the results of the literature research. The objective of the literature research was to gain information about the questions what is motivation, what factors hinder and what factors help to motivate young adults to learn. These results will soon be available in the download area on this website!

Another important issue of the second meeting was the development of the field manual. Questions for the narrative interviews and focus groups were generated, the target groups defined.

The kick-off meeting of MoLeYa took place in Sofia, Bulgaria from 1-3 December, 2008.During the start meeting the project content and the different work packages were presented to the project consortium. The partners discussed general project issues, responsibilities of each partner within the work packages as well as administrative and financial issues. The next working steps were defined and agreed by all partners. Until the second project meeting each partner will carry out a literature research to answer following questions:

• What is motivation?
• Why is motivation important?
• What factors hinder motivation?
• What factors help motivation?

The agenda also included time for social activities to get to know each other and to build a basis for successful cooperation between all project partners
